William Wallace Obituary

Dr. William Russell Wallace, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at home with his family. He was born in Stearns, KY, in 1944, to Charles and Elsie (Winchester) Wallace. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1962, where he excelled in academics and many different sports. He received an athletic scholarship to Marietta College. There, he earned degrees in both science and art, all while lettering in both football and baseball. He then went on to study dentistry at The Ohio State University. After serving his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, he returned to Norwood, where he opened the dental practice that he ran with care, love, and steady hands for over 38 years. Dr. Wallace was, above all else, a man made up of kindness and love. He adored his wife and children and cared about his patients and his community as if they were his own family. He was an outdoorsman, a musician, a writer, and a man of God. He never stopped being a student in the world; he was always learning and his energy and enthusiasm made others want to do the same. Dr. Wallace is preceded in death by his first wife, Diane, his parents, and his sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his brother Charles (Rosemary) ; his sisters, Carol (Tom) and Sue (John); his four children, Angie (John), Jessica (Brett), William II; and Ashley (Adam); numerous nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren. A celebration of Dr. Wallace's life will be held at Norwood Middle School Auditorium from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 24th, and a yearly scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student athlete from Norwood in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norwood High School Athletic Department. www.charlesyoungfuneralhome.com
